There’s nothing like an impromptu get together.
When caught short on the catering stakes I turn to Champagne and plain salted Crisps. Nothing rallies like this combo when it comes to style and ease.
It’s also one of the simplest ways to throw a chic soiree. Not only that, but it’s also good for your health.

the health benefits of champagne
The best thing about Champagne is that it has significant health benefits.
Studies have revealed that drinking three glasses of champagne per week can protect your brain from the onset of dementia and prevent memory loss.
Researchers attribute the brain-boosting benefits of champagne to phenolic compounds found in the two red grape types used to produce the alcohol.
Also, a glass of champagne has just 80 calories compared to a glass of wine that has 120 calories.

Champagne Serving Etiquette
Never over-chill Champagne, a fine Champagne should always be cool, but never icy or close to freezing.
Avoid filling a Champagne bucket halfway otherwise Champagne will only be half cold.
If you’re short on ice add water to the Champagne bucket, this way the cold will be spread more evenly over the Champagne.

How to drink champagne
According to all makers of champagne, you should drink champagne from a tall fluted glass which allows the bubbles to circulate.
It is widely agreed that The champagne “coupe” (a wide-mouthed goblet) was either modeled in the shape of Marie Antoinette’s breast.
Or created to commemorate the breast of Madame de Pompadour, the mistress of Louis the Fifteenth.
No matter whose breast was the inspiration for the “coupe” experts agree that it should never be used to serve champagne.

What you will need for 4 guests and 1 host
2 bottle of chilled champagne
5 Champagne flutes
An ice-bucket and a bag of ice
4 packets of plain salted chips
2-3 crystal bowls (everyone diving into the same bowl for a chip or having to wait their turn is not stylish )
5 Cloth napkins
5 glasses of water

When to plan it?
Traditionally a soiree is an intimate evening event with a simple menu.
The ideal time for your Champagne and crisps rendezvous is in between main meals.
Morning – 10-12, swap chips for fresh fruit.
Afternoon- 2-4pm OR 3-5pm
Lastly, have a little fun,
Wear tulle I say!
And Cheers!
