Let’s take a look at how you can get instant Instagram stardom.
Our plan today is to review your Instagram profile, make some game-changing upgrades. Optimize your page, connect with new followers, and increase sales if you have a blog or a shop.
Even if you are new to Instagram, we’ll have you looking like a star in no time.

Your profile layout
Firstly a quick look at a layout of an optimized profile and what it should contain.
- Your handle aka username
- Your name
- What you’re about
- A self-promo to establish yourself as a person of authority
- Email address (optional)
- Check out my blog- link to your best hook
- Location

the difference between a handle and a name
There’s a distinction between a name and a handle. Knowing this can make a big difference in helping potential followers discover you.
Your HANDLE is your username that you choose when you set up your account.
Your NAME acts like Instagram SEO, it helps people find you.

Examples of Handles and Names
Example 1.
Handle/username @dogs_grooming
Name– Pamper mobile dog wash experts
Example 2.
Handle @lucy_georgia
Name– Yoga for new mums
If someone searched for yoga for new mums, Lucy would have a good chance of being found. It’s also more descriptive, ensuring visitors know what we do and who we are.

about you-what do you do?
Next, you will need a short summary of your brand and its main value proposition. What makes your product unique that would entice a customer to buy, and why should they trust you?
If you are the brand, the same applies. Stand out by using symbols and emojis, that fit with your brand or who you are.
Take a look at your favorite Instagram accounts and follow their lead for ideas.

self-promo
My favorite way to get instant Instagram stardom is with cheeky self-promotion.
When we look at following a person’s Instagram profile we check out their credentials to see if they are important. The more you’re viewed as an authority in your field the more respect and followers you will achieve.
Let’s look at how we can achieve this for your profile with these examples.

self promo
Creative example 1.
If you’re a yoga instructor, you could create a short yoga video for Youtube and call it something like Bliss morning ritual.
It could be a 10 minute morning ritual. That you can add to your profile- Creator of the Bliss Morning Ritual. It gives you some wow value.

Creative example 2
Let’s say you’re a guy, an adventurer, or you review surfing spots around the world you could say –
Creator of The Crocodile Surf Jump. No one knows what this is but it makes you seem like an expert on something. Even if it was the time when you were drunk and jumped off a stage at a festival and crowd surfed with an inflatable crocodile.
So I think you’re getting the idea. It could be something you wrote, co-wrote, or co-created. Have a good think about what you’ve done and put a creative spin on it if you have to. As long as it’s not untrue.

Your URL link to your website
So next up is your profile your URL the link to your website. I recommend that the link you add goes to one of your best-selling collections.
If your business is new, go with your best opinion on what products will be your best-sellers. If you’re selling an online course, that should be the URL page you link to.
A great strategy is to incentivize followers to enter their email to send them a free ebook or planner. Another more advanced approach is to add a link to If you have a Shoppable feed on your website.

YOur profile picture
Now we’ll select a profile photo. If you have a business logo, you can use that. Or an eye-catching or fun image that represents your brand or what you do.

Now for an example profile to summarise the key information (one for the guys)
- @the.skateplatform (username)
- The ultimate skate parks (Name)
- Showcasing the world’s best skate parks and gear. Send us your skate pics to be featured. (What you do)
- Creator of the Crocodile Crowd Jump (Positioning yourself as an authority.)
- Email address
- Check out the best skate parks here (Link to your website-best page)
Be a little creative and hook people in and don’t forget to add emojis of they relate to your brand and what you do.
